Pakistan again rejects Indian request to access spy

Jadhav Kulbhusan is no ordinary prisoner, but was involved in killing many Pakistanis, says Foreign Office

By Islamuddin Sajid

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (AA) - Pakistan on Sunday rejected India's request for consular access to a convicted spy, saying he was involved in the killing of many innocents.

India is trying to paint Kulbhushan Jadhav as an “ordinary prisoner” but he was sent to Pakistan by Indian intelligence agency RAW, and he killed many innocent Pakistanis, said Foreign Office spokesman Nafees Zakria in a statement.

He said India should act under the bilateral agreement on consular access instead of leveling accusations at Pakistan.

India on Saturday again asked Pakistan for consular access to Jadhav, who was arrested by Pakistani forces in March 2016 in Balochistan.

After he confessed to working for Indian intelligence, a military court sentenced him to death.

On Saturday, speaking to Pakistan state-run PTV, Zakria said India was involved in financing terror and terrorism activities in Pakistan, citing Kulbhushan’s arrest as proof of this.
