Pakistan hits out at India over Kashmir incident

KARACHI, Pakistan (AA) – Pakistan on Monday accused longtime rival India of killing four civilians and injuring six others in a firing and shelling incident in the disputed Kashmir Valley.

The latest casualties have raised the number of recent deaths to 20 as ongoing border clashes continue, triggered by a brazen attack on an army base in Indian-held Kashmir late last month which killed 18 Indian soldiers.

New Delhi, which accuses Islamabad of having had a hand in the attack, has since been boasting about “surgical strikes” on alleged militant camps inside Pakistan in retaliation.

However, Pakistan denies involvement.

Locked in a string of land and sea disputes, the two neighbors have fought three full-scale wars -- two of them on Kashmir -- since the creation of Pakistan in 1947 following the end of British colonial rule in India.
