ISLAMABAD (AA) - An Indian aerial drone was shot down over the Line of Control in Kashmir, the Pakistan military said late Saturday.
Army spokesman Lt. Gen. Asim Saleem Bajwa said the drone was downed after violating Pakistani airspace.
In a Twitter post he said the “Indian Quad Copter” was brought down after intruding 60 meters (yards) into Pakistan’s territory and “taken over” by Pakistani troops.
An Indian drone was shot down in the same area in July last year. Tensions along the frontier dividing the parts of Kashmir controlled by the nuclear rivals have been heightened since the summer following an Indian crackdown in the Muslim-majority territory.
