Pakistan summons Indian envoy over mortar incident
Pakistan says house hit by Indian mortar round in Kashmir's Fatehpur village, killing three members of one family
By Islamuddin Sajid
ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (AA) - Pakistan summoned India’s Deputy High Commissioner J.P. Singh on Monday to lodge a protest against what it called a recent “unprovoked ceasefire violation” in Kashmir.
The foreign ministry, in a statement, said Indian forces on Sunday killed three civilians, including a woman, in the disputed region’s Rawalakot Sector.
Pakistan said a house was hit by an Indian mortar in Fatehpur village, killing the three members of one family and injuring two others.
"The deliberate targeting of civilians is indeed deplorable and contrary to human dignity and international human rights and humanitarian laws," Pakistan’s foreign ministry added.
Foreign Office Director General Mohammad Faisal urged India to respect a 2003 ceasefire arrangement and investigate Sunday’s incident.
