Arshad Malik said video released by former Premier Nawaz Sharif's daughter is not factual and is out of context

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (AA) - A Pakistani judge on Sunday hit back at a video that the daughter of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif claims is evidence there was pressure to convict Sharif on corruption charges.
A statement issued by Judge Arshad Malik, run on state-run Radio Pakistan, said the video is at odds with the facts and out of context.
"I received offers of bribes many times when I was hearing the cases of Nawaz Sharif and his family members and also threatened with dire consequences in case of noncooperation," claimed Malik.
He said he had turned away all these bribes and threats.
But the judge did not deny that he had met with Nasir Butt, local leader of Nawaz’s Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), and his brother Abdullah Butt, the person who reportedly filmed his video.
"Nasir Butt and his brother Abdullah Butt are residents of the city of Rawalpindi where I am also living and I have long known him, and he met with me several times," Malik said.
The conversation in the video was stitched together from various occasions presented out of context, he claimed.and
The judge further argued that he had ruled against Sharif on the basis of the evidence and that no one had pressured him.
Saturday’s press conference by Maryam Nawaz presenting the video was meant to stir controversy over the verdict for political ends, Malik said.
