Syrus Qazi appointed 32nd foreign secretary of South Asian nation

Karachi, Pakistan (AA) - Pakistan on Thursday appointed its former ambassador to Türkiye as the country's new foreign secretary.
Muhammad Syrus Sajjad Qazi, a career diplomat, will replace Asad Majeed Khan, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mumtaz Zahra Baloch told a weekly press briefing in the capital Islamabad.
Qazi, who served as Islamabad's top diplomat in Ankara from 2017 to 2022, is the 32nd Foreign Secretary of the South Asian nation.
Previously, he served at Pakistan’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations, Geneva from 1995 to 1999, Pakistan’s High Commission in New Delhi from 2005 to 2006, and Pakistan Embassy in Washington from 2006 to 2013.
He also served as Pakistan’s ambassador to Hungary from 2015 to 2017.
