Palestinian fatally shot by Israeli forces in West Bank

JERUSALEM (AA) – A Palestinian was shot dead by Israeli army forces in the occupied West Bank on Monday, according to Israeli media.

The Palestinian was killed while allegedly attempting to plant an exclusive device near the settlement of Neveh Tzuf in the central West Bank, Israeli Army Radio reported.

Public broadcaster KAN said the Palestinian man was killed in an exchange of fire with Israeli forces.

No injuries were reported among Israeli soldiers.

There was no comment yet from Palestinian authorities.

Last week, at least 12 Palestinians were killed and more than 140 others injured in an Israeli military raid in the West Bank city of Jenin, according to the Health Ministry.

Tension has been running high across the West Bank in recent months amid repeated Israeli raids into the Palestinian towns.

According to Health Ministry figures, over 195 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces since the start of this year. At least 27 Israelis have also been killed in separate attacks during the same period.
