Palestinian martyred in Gaza Strip

GAZA CITY, Palestine (AA) – A Palestinian man was martyred by Israeli forces Thursday near the security fence in southern Gaza, according to the Palestinian military.

In a statement, the army said the man opened fire on Israeli soldiers, injuring three of them.

The Israeli soldiers retaliated and martyred the Palestinian.

Israel then targeted a Hamas position.

Since the Gaza rallies began in March last year, nearly 270 protesters have been martyred and thousands more wounded by Israeli troops deployed near the buffer zone.

Demonstrators demand an end to Israel’s 12-year blockade of the Gaza Strip, which has shattered the coastal enclave’s economy and deprived its two million inhabitants of many basic amenities.
