Pentagon chief fires Navy chief of staff: Report

WASHINGTON (AA) - US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth on Friday fired Navy chief of staff Jon Harrison, Politico reported.

Citing two defense officials and a former defense official, Politico said the sudden ouster follows the confirmation this week of the Navy Undersecretary Hung Cao.

“He will no longer serve as Chief of Staff to the Secretary of the Navy,” the Pentagon was quoted by Politico. “We are grateful for his service to the Department," it added.

Earlier this year, Hegseth dismissed several senior advisers and ousted the chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, along with the top uniformed commanders of the Navy, Air Force and the Coast Guard.
