WASHINGTON (AA) – A photojournalist and more than 10 people were arrested Monday during a vigil service for Jordan Neely, a homeless Black man killed in a chokehold at a subway station in New York on May 1.

During a commemoration event for Neely in Manhattan, held at the entrance of the subway station located at the junction of Broadway and Lafayette streets, the demonstration spilled out into the street.

As a result, the police intervened to control the situation.

Anadolu footage shows photojournalist Stephanie Keith being cuffed and led to New York Police Department (NYPD)'s van.

Demonstrators are demanding justice for Neely.

During a press conference, NYPD Patrol Chief John Chell said that Keith was charged with "disorderly conduct" and "interfering with three arrests."

Daniel Penny, a 24-year-old Marine Corps veteran from Queens, killed Neely by placing him in a lethal chokehold on May 1. Penny's subsequent release after being initially detained sparked outrage and led to a series of ongoing protests.
