ISTANBUL (AA) – Photographic exhibitions were organized at Istanbul Airport and the Galata Tower as part of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day events in Türkiye.

The exhibition at the Domestic Arrivals Terminal, organized by the Istanbul Provincial Gendarmerie Command, included approximately 40 photographs taken by Anadolu photojournalists and reporters during the defeated coup orchestrated by the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO) on July 15, 2016.

Another exhibition called "That Moment" was opened to visitors by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism at the Galata Tower in Istanbul.

Ismail Hakki Turunc, president of the 15 July Association, told Anadolu on Friday that the photographs in the exhibition are both moments of pride and shame for the Turkish nation and state.

“Tourists come to this place from all over the world. We believe that it will be useful for them to be aware of what is going on in Türkiye and to remind them that there may be those who attempt such things in their own country.”

The exhibition at the airport will go on till Saturday, while “That Moment” at the Galata Tower will be open to visitors until next Friday.

FETO and its US-based leader Fetullah Gulen orchestrated the defeated coup in 2016, which left 252 people killed and nearly 2,200 injured.

Ankara accuses FETO of being behind a long-running campaign to overthrow the state through the infiltration of Turkish institutions, particularly the military, police, and judiciary.
