Police neutralize suicide attacker in SE Turkey
Terrorist brought explosives from Syria to carry out attack

ANKARA (AA) - Turkish police on Thursday neutralized a terrorist of Syrian origin who was attempting to carry out a suicide attack in the country's southeast.
Turkish authorities use the word “neutralize” to imply the terrorists in question surrendered or were killed or captured.
Mardin and Sanliurfa provincial police directorates carried out an operation acting upon a tip off that the suspect from YPG/PKK will disrupt peace using explosives illegally brought in from Syria.
Police teams stopped a car carrying the terrorist at a checkpoint in the Viransehir district of Sanliurfa province, the Interior Ministry said in a statement.
A 1.5-kilogram clusterbomb in the suicide bomber's jacket was defused.
In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK – listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US and European Union – has been responsible for the deaths of 40,000 people, including women, children and infants. The YPG is the PKK’s Syrian offshoot.
