ANKARA (AA) – The Polish prime minister and visiting Ukrainian foreign minister discussed possible steps to put an end to Russia’s war on Ukraine, a Warsaw spokesman said Wednesday.
In the Polish capital, Polish Premier Mateusz Morawiecki and Ukraine’s Dmytro Kuleba also discussed tougher sanctions on Russia and international support for Ukraine's future reconstruction, Piotr Muller said on Twitter.
“We are taking more measures to boost Europe’s security,” he said.
Kuleba thanked the people of Poland for their hospitality during the war. Poland has taken in more Ukrainian refugees than any other country, over 2.3 million.
Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Marcin Przydacz and Ukrainian Ambassador to Poland Andrij Deszczycia also took part in the meeting.
Russia's war on Ukraine, which began on Feb. 24, has drawn international outrage, with the EU, US, and the UK, among others, implementing tough financial sanctions on Moscow.
At least 1,189 civilians have been killed and 1,901 have been injured in Ukraine, with the true figure likely to be much higher, according to the UN.
More than 4 million Ukrainians have also fled to other countries, with millions more internally displaced, according to the UN refugee agency.
