Preference shifts toward steel-frame homes in detached housing

ISTANBUL (AA)—Turkish prefabricated buildings constructor Karmod said on Thursday that steel-frame homes have become a focal point for those seeking homeownership, thanks to structural safety and streamlined construction processes.

“Steel homes spare prospective homeowners the burden of coordinating multiple craftsmen,” Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mehmet Cankaya was quoted as saying in a statement.

Stressing that three key expectations stand out in discussions with customers, Cankaya noted that these are “structural safety, construction processes progressing smoothly without requiring the homeowner’s involvement at every stage, and manageable budget advantages.”

“The steel-frame housing model fully meets these expectations and is therefore emerging as the leading preference for detached homes in Türkiye,” he said.

Highlighting that steel homes have become the center of attention for those who want to own a home due to their structural safety and simplified construction processes, Cankaya voiced a long-term dilemma the customers had faced: “Should I build a reinforced concrete or a steel home?”

“The level of safety offered by steel homes and the solution they provide to the problem of organizing different craftsmen have been the main factors eliminating this dilemma. Today, those planning to build a detached home come to us directly with a preference for steel homes,” he explained.

Cankaya emphasized that steel homes provide advantages in both time and cost, adding that people seeking homeownership want to know their total budget clearly from the start.

He pointed out that prolonged construction processes in other models can cause budgets to exceed initial estimates, and added: “Steel homes attract particular interest from those seeking to own a home because of their manageable budget advantages. The very fast pace of steel home construction ensures that the budget determined at the outset is preserved. Having craftsmanship-intensive processes handled by the manufacturer prevents potential budget overruns. With their structural safety and manageable budget advantages, steel homes have become the most preferred housing model in detached residential construction.”

Cankaya also noted that steel homes include designs tailored to luxury villa preferences, describing the model as an innovative construction approach that offers sustainable solutions for different expectations.
