Real Madrid stunned at Girona 4-2 as Castellanos scores 4 goals

ANKARA (AA) - Girona shocked Real Madrid 4-2 in a Spanish La Liga match Tuesday as Taty Castellanos scored four goals against Los Blancos.

Castellanos scored an early header, then he made it 2-0 after a long ball.

Real Madrid star Vincius scored a header at the far post to give hope.

Castellanos finished after a cross to make the score 3-1 for Girona.

The 24-year-old Argentine forward headed a fourth goal before Real Madrid player Lucas Vazquez's late strike.

Castellanos became the first player to score four La Liga goals against Real Madrid since 1947. Esteban Echaverria, who died in 1987, scored five goals for Real Oviedo against Real Madrid in December 1947.

Second-place Real Madrid have 65 points in 31 matches. The Whites are 11 points behind Spanish La Liga leaders Barcelona to be quite desperate for the title.

Barcelona will visit Rayo Vallecano on Wednesday.

Mid-table Girona increased their points to 41 after beating Real Madrid.

Real Madrid were without their first-choice goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois as the Belgian player was suffering from gastroenteritis.

The Whites' French star Karim Benzema missed the Girona match due to a leg injury.
