Real Madrid top La Liga with flawless start in first five matches

Weekend matches saw Real Madrid, Napoli, Union Berlin, PSG lead their respective leagues, as matches in England halted, mourning death of Queen Elizabeth II

ISTANBUL (AA) - Real Madrid remained at the top La Liga of standings with 15 points from five matches.

Starting the week as the leaders, Real Madrid tasted a 4-1 home victory over Real Mallorca on matchday five of the Spanish top-tier football league.

Barcelona, -- at second place -- with two points behind leaders hammered Cadiz with a 4-0 result at Estadio Nuevo Mirandilla.

Third-place Real Betis claimed a narrow win over Villarreal, 1-0 to boost their points to 12.


- Serie A

Playing at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, Napoli secured a 1-0 win against Spezia.

10-man AC Milan won the away match against Sampdoria with a 2-1 score, while Atalanta drew with Cremonese 1-1.

Fifth-place Inter Milan tasted a 1-0 home victory over Torino in the week six match.

Udinese passed Sassuolo with a 3-1 result on road and kept pushing for the top spot.

At the end of the sixth week, Napoli stand atop Serie A to have 14 points, followed by Atalanta and AC Milan with the same points.

Collecting 13 points, Udinese are in the fourth spot.


- Bundesliga

Defending Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich suffered a late goal penalty at Allianz Arena.

Stuttgart tied the Bavarians 1-1 as Serhou Guirassy converted the penalty in the 92nd minute.

Leipzig defeated Borussia Dortmund 3-0 while league leaders Union Berlin taste an away narrow win over Koln.

Freiburg were held to a goalless draw with Borussia Monchengladbach.

Union Berlin are top of the standings with 14 points and Freiburg are in the second spot with 13 points.

Bayern Munich, Hoffenheim and Borussia Dortmund got 12 points so far.


- Ligue 1

Paris Saint-Germain beat Brest 1-0 at Parc des Princes. Neymar scored the winning goal as PSG increased their points to 19 in seven matches.

Olympic Marseille claimed a 2-1 win over Lille while Lens defeated Troyes with a 1-0 result.

PSG and Marseille collected 19 points after their first seven Ligue 1 clashes, followed by Lens with 17 points.

Meanwhile, this weekend's all football fixtures in England have been postponed as the UK is mourning the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
