Registered electric cars in Türkiye exceed 265K as of end-June

The number of electric vehicles (EVs) on Turkish roads soared 117% year-on-year in June, reaching 265,847 registered units, according to Türkiye’s statistical office, TurkStat.

The total number of cars registered in Türkiye last month topped 16.7 million, the data showed. EVs made up 1.6% of this total at the end of June, compared to 1.1% at the end of 2024.

Over the past decade, EV adoption has accelerated as consumers shift toward low-emission vehicles. The expansion of charging infrastructure has further supported this trend.

The launch of Türkiye’s homegrown EV brand, Togg, catapulted the EV adoption in the country, as the domestic consumer interest shifted to both local carmakers and EVs at large, adding to the growth of the number of EVs on Turkish roads.

Only some 565 EVs were registered in 2015, as per TurkStat data, and this figure broke over 250,000 for the first time in June this year, rising from 122,670 in the same month last year to 265,847.

Hybrid vehicles, which use both electric and fuel engines, also saw major growth. In 2011, when hybrid data was first shared, just 23 hybrid cars were registered.

By June 2025, the number of registered hybrid vehicles in Türkiye reached 529,765, the data showed.
