ANKARA (AA) - Renowned Vietnam War photographer Tim Page passed away at the age of 78 in Australia, local media reported on Thursday.

Page died of cancer at his home in Bellingen town, New South Wales, according to the daily Sidney Morning Herald.

He was severely injured four times while covering the Vietnam War, and he also covered wars in Bosnia, Afghanistan, and the Arab-Israeli conflict, the daily said, adding that he was an outspoken anti-war figure.

“He was a humanist first and foremost, always alive to the power of photography and art to change perceptions and highlight the folly of war,” the newspaper wrote, adding that Page once said: “The only good war photograph is an anti-war photograph.”

Page, who was born in the UK in 1944, won the prestigious Robert Capa Award, besides Horst Faas for his book Requiem, which featured photographs from all sides of the Vietnam War.

NAM, The Mindful Moment, Page After Page, Derailed in Uncle Ho's Victory Garden, and the forthcoming Nam Contact are among his other books.
