Roadside bomb kills 4 soldiers in Iraq’s Diyala
Army patrol vehicle strikes roadside bomb while passing through Diyala’s Nada Basin area

DIYALA, Iraq (AA) - At least four Iraqi soldiers were killed Friday when their vehicle struck a roadside bomb in Iraq’s eastern Diyala province, according to a local police source.
“An army patrol vehicle struck a roadside bomb this morning as it passed through Diyala’s Nada Basin area, killing four army personnel,” Diyala Police Captain Habib al-Shammari told Anadolu Agency.
The Nada Basin area is located roughly 55 kilometers east of provincial capital Baqubah.
According to al-Shammari, the “massive” blast completely destroyed the vehicle.
No group has claimed responsibility for planting the bomb.
Last December, officials in Baghdad declared that the Daesh terrorist group's military presence in Iraq had been all but dismantled.
It appears the notorious terrorist group, however, still maintains "sleeper cells" in certain parts of the country, including Diyala and the neighboring Saladin province.
