Russia announces large-scale military drill in east

Vostok 2022 to bring together air force, aircraft, troops from other countries, says Defense Ministry

ANKARA (AA) - Russia on Tuesday announced a large-scale military drill in the eastern part of the country.

The Vostok 2022 strategic command and staff drill will take place on Aug. 30 - Sept. 5, said TASS, the state-run news agency, citing the Defense Ministry.

The drills will bring together the air force, military aircraft as well as military contingents from other countries, it added.

The ministry also rejected the news run by some foreign media outlets that Russia is allegedly carrying out mobilization measures.

"We want to draw your attention to the fact that only a part of the Russian Armed Forces is involved in the special military operation and its numerical strength is quite sufficient to fulfil the objectives set by the supreme commander-in-chief," it said.
