Russia claims to have captured another settlement in Ukraine

MOSCOW (AA) - The Russian Defense Ministry claimed on Tuesday that its forces had taken over the village of Yampolivka in Ukraine's Donetsk region.

According to the ministry, the village fell under Russian control following an operation by the Zapad (West) forces.

The ministry also said that it launched a coordinated strike overnight, using precision weapons and drones, targeting Ukraine's military infrastructure supplying energy to the military-industrial complex, and sites for storing and launching drones.

Ukraine responded with a large-scale drone attack, and Russian forces shot down 73 drones overnight, along with 14 US-made HIMARS rockets, the ministry claimed.

As a result of Ukraine's drone attack, 51 private houses were partially destroyed and damaged in Russia's Krasnodar region, it added.

Ukraine has yet to comment on the claims, while independent verification is challenging due to the ongoing conflict.
