MOSCOW (AA) - The Russian Defense Ministry announced on Friday that its forces had captured the settlement of Storozheve in Ukraine's Donetsk region.
The ministry said the village fell under Russian control following an operation led by the Vostok (East) group of forces.
The village is located near the Kurakhiv Reservoir. On the reservoir's left bank lies the city of Kurakhove, a key Ukrainian stronghold and supply hub in the region and the site of a thermal power plant.
Ukraine has not yet commented on the claim, and independent verification remains challenging amid the ongoing conflict.
The ministry also said that over the past week it carried out 37 massive group strikes using precision weapons and drones at Ukraine's energy facilities working for military enterprises, the infrastructure of military airfields, ammunition depots, fuel bases, production workshops, storage facilities, and training centers for drone operators.
Also, the points of temporary deployment of Ukraine's armed formations and foreign mercenaries were hit, it said.
