MOSCOW (AA) - Russia’s Armed Forces destroyed fuel storage facilities used by Ukrainian troops in the Mykolaiv and Rivne regions and in the city of Ternopol with high precision weapons, the Russian Defense Ministry said Sunday.

In addition, as a result of an airstrike on the Balovnoye airfield in the suburbs of the city of Mykolaiv, an aircraft parking lot and fuel storage facility were destroyed, ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said at a press briefing in Moscow.

A strike on the Vasylkiv military airfield in the Kyiv region disabled a warning and control center for aviation and air defense of the Ukrainian Air Force, he added.

According to Konashenkov, 42 objects of Ukraine’s military infrastructure were hit over the day, including three Buk-M1 launchers and two Osa-AKM air defense systems, one artillery battery, two multiple rocket launchers, two field warehouses for rocket and artillery weapons and ammunition and eight strong points and areas of concentration of military equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"In total, since the beginning of the special military operation, 386 unmanned aerial vehicles, 224 anti-aircraft missile systems, 1,918 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 209 multiple rocket launchers, 814 field artillery and mortars, as well as 1,789 units of special military vehicles have been destroyed," he said.

The Russia-Ukraine war, which started on Feb. 24, has been met with international outrage, with the European Union, US and the UK among others implementing tough financial sanctions on Moscow.

At least 1,417 civilians have been killed in Ukraine and 2,038 injured, according to UN estimates, with the true figure feared to be far higher.

More than 4.1 million Ukrainians have also fled to other countries, with millions more internally displaced, according to the UN refugee agency.
