ISTANBUL (AA) – Russia’s state space corporation, Roscosmos, announced on Friday that the schedule for the first launch of the Soyuz-5 rocket, originally expected at the end of 2025, has been adjusted.

According to a statement from Roscosmos, Russia and its partner Kazakhstan are conducting additional checks of both onboard systems and ground equipment, after which the launch date will be set.

“The joint Russian-Kazakh Baiterek project is in its final stages: tests are continuing at the launchpad to confirm the reliability of the rocket’s systems and components,” the statement said.

Following autonomous testing in the assembly and test facility, the rocket will be delivered to the launch pad, where it will undergo final testing, it added.

“Work is currently proceeding as planned, in full compliance with all regulations and standards,” Roscosmos underlined.
