Russia says its forces captured settlement in Donetsk, hit Ukrainian army production targets

ISTANBUL (AA) – Russia’s Defense Ministry claimed on Saturday that its forces captured the settlement of Zaporozhye in eastern Ukraine’s Donetsk region during the ongoing military operations.

According to the ministry, units of the “East” group advanced into Ukrainian defensive lines, while strikes were also carried out on Ukrainian positions in Zaporizhzhia and Kherson, targeting military equipment and infrastructure.

The ministry said several Ukrainian brigades were hit in the areas of Uspenovka, Temirovka, and Poltavka, with additional strikes reported near Novodanilovka and Kamenskoye.

Russian forces also targeted drone production facilities, ammunition depots, and temporary deployment points, according to the statement.

Air defense systems reportedly intercepted four US-made guided bombs and nearly 100 drones.

Kyiv has not commented on the Russian claims. Independent verification of the battlefield situation remains limited.
