Russia thwarts large-scale Ukrainian drone attack on Turkic Tatarstan regions

MOSCOW (AA) – Russia on Tuesday claimed that its forces have thwarted a large-scale Ukrainian drone attack on the Turkic Tatarstan regions by shooting down nine drones within an hour.

The Defense Ministry said in a statement that nine drones were shot down in Tatarstan within an hour, which were approaching industrial enterprises.

Overall, 179 Ukrainian drones were shot down across Russia over the past hours, the ministry said, adding that its air defense forces also intercepted six guided air bombs and neutralized them.

Meanwhile, the ministry said it carried out strikes on Ukraine's military-industrial complex, workshops for producing long-range drones and their storage facilities, ammunition depots, and a training center for units, as well as temporary deployment points for Ukrainian armed formations and foreign mercenaries in 142 districts.

Ukraine has yet to comment on Russia's claims, and independent verification is challenging due to the ongoing conflict.
