Russia, Ukraine continue to pound each other's targets, killing 6, injuring 14

ISTANBUL (AA) – Russian and Ukrainian forces continued to pound each other's targets during the overnight attack, killing six people and injuring 14.

The Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement that air defenses shot down 172 Ukrainian drones overnight, with 67 falling over the Black Sea.

Krasnodar Krai Governor Veniamin Kondratyev said the heaviest drone attack hit Russia's southwestern Novorossiysk, one of the largest ports on the Black Sea, where a state of emergency was declared.

“According to preliminary reports, eight apartment buildings, nine private homes, and a kindergarten were damaged. Five people were injured, and all are receiving medical care,” he wrote on Telegram.

Meanwhile, Ukraine’s General Staff said air defense systems shot down 84 drones, including Shahed, Gerbera, and Italmas-type UAVs, in the north, south, and east of the country.

Ukraine’s Energy Ministry said on Telegram that Russia attacked energy infrastructure, causing outages in the Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Sumy regions.

Oleksandr Prokudin, the regional head in Kherson, reported on Telegram that overnight strikes resulted in the deaths of four people and the injuries of five others.

While Vyacheslav Chaus, head of the Chernihiv regional administration, said in a statement on Telegram that a Geranium-type drone hit a house in the Snovska community, killing one person.

One person was killed during attacks on three Dnipropetrovsk districts, Governor Oleksandr Hanzha wrote on Telegram.

Separately, Zaporizhzhia Governor Ivan Fedorov said in a morning statement published in Telegram that 39 settlements in the region were under shelling, injuring four people.
