Russian defense chief arrives in Uzbekistan to discuss security in Central Asian region

MOSCOW (AA) - Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov on Tuesday arrived in Uzbekistan to discuss security issues in Central Asia.

"During his visit to Tashkent, the head of the Russian military service will hold talks with the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Major General Shukhrat Khalmukhamedov, as well as the country's military and political leadership," the statement said.

Apart from security issues in the Central Asian region, Belousov will also discuss military and military-technical cooperation between Russia and Uzbekistan, it said.
