Russian defense minister inspects Russian army in eastern Ukraine

MOSCOW (AA) - The Russian Defense Ministry said on Friday its head Sergey Shoygu paid an unexpected visit to positions of the Russian army in eastern Ukraine.

Shoygu received reports on the current situation from the military chiefs of groups, deployed in the Zaporizhzhia region, and set tasks to continue reconnaissance and improve conditions for accommodation of the military personnel, the ministry said in a statement.

"At the headquarters of the groups, the defense minister of the Russian Federation held a meeting with the commander of the groups, at which he noted the high efficiency of detecting and defeating military equipment and accumulations of enemy personnel in the main directions of the groups," it said.

Shoygu also instructed to pay special attention to the issue of supplies of the armies.
