Russian Defense Ministry says Su-30 fighter jet crashed while on training flight

MOSCOW (AA) - The Russian Defense Ministry said on Thursday that an Su-30 fighter jet crashed in northern Karelia, killing two crew members.
According to a statement from the ministry, the incident occurred around 19.00 Moscow time (1600GMT) while the aircraft was on a routine training mission.
The crash occurred in an uninhabited region, and there was no ammunition on board, it said.
A special commission will investigate the incident, but pilot error is one of the possible causes of the crash, according to the statement.
