Russia's foreign trade surplus down 11% in January-September

Russia's exports down $14.7B year-on-year to $302.8B, imports down $2.1B to $201.1B, in January-September period

MOSCOW (AA) - Russia's foreign trade surplus fell 11% year-on-year in the first nine months of this year, down to $101.7 billion, according to official new figures.

According to Russian Federal Customs Service released on Monday, the foreign trade data for January-September shows Russia's exports fell $14.7 billion compared to the same period in 2024 to $302.8 billion, while imports shrank by $2.1 billion to $201.1 billion.

Russia's exports to European countries slid 15.75% to $42.2 billion, while imports from these countries decreased 5% to $51.5 billion.

The country's exports to Asia decreased 1.9% to $235.1 billion, while imports from countries in the region fell 0.9% to $134.3 billion.

Russia's main export sector was minerals and mineral products at $168.7 billion, while its main import sector was machinery, equipment, and vehicles at $96.7 billion.

The country's foreign trade surplus rose 0.82% in 2024 compared to the previous year, reaching $122.6 billion.
