Saudi Arabia expressed on Friday its full support for the Syrian people and the newly formed administration in Syria, affirming its readiness to contribute to the country’s recovery and uphold its unity and territorial integrity, according to official sources.

According to the Syrian Arab News Agency SANA, Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Al-Shaibani "conveyed the national vision to establish a Syrian government based on inclusivity and competence, representing all Syrian components.”

"We also outlined plans for a comprehensive economic development strategy to attract investment, foster strategic partnerships, and improve living standards and public services,” he added.

Saudi Arabia reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Syrian people and their new administration.

Shaibani noted the kingdom’s readiness to contribute to Syria’s recovery and to support its unity and territorial integrity.

This is the first visit by a Syrian official in the new transitional government formed after Assad's ouster, indicating a possible shift in regional dynamics and Syria's role in the Arab world.

Assad, Syria's leader for nearly 25 years, fled to Russia after anti-regime groups took control of Damascus on Dec. 8, ending the Baath Party's regime, which had been in power since 1963.

The takeover came after Hayat Tahrir al-Sham fighters captured key cities in a lightning offensive that lasted less than two weeks.

A new administration led by Ahmed al-Sharaa has now taken charge.
