ISTANBUL (AA) - Saudi Arabia announced Wednesday it will host the Munich Security Conference Leaders Meeting in AlUla, in the northwest, during the last quarter of the year.
The Foreign Ministry said the move "reflects the Kingdom’s role as a platform for international dialogue in the fields of security and politics."
The announcement was made during the MSC Leaders Meeting in Washington DC, from May 5 to 7.
Saudi Arabia was represented at the meeting by Prince Abdullah bin Khaled bin Saud, assistant director-general of the general administration for policy planning at the Foreign Ministry.
Abdullah met Benedikt Franke, CEO of the Munich Security Conference, who expressed “his sincere appreciation to the Kingdom for hosting this important event,” according to the ministry.
Franke added that a detailed statement outlining the meeting’s details and objectives will be issued at a later date.
Abdullah reiterated “the Kingdom’s commitment to supporting international peace and security and promoting multilateral dialogue,” added the statement.
The Munich Security Conference, established in 1963, is considered the world’s largest and most significant forum for discussions on global security policy, bringing together hundreds of leaders and decision-makers from around the world.
