ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia (AA) - Saudi-Ethiopian tycoon Mohammed Hussein al-Amoudi has been released after more than one year of detention by Saudi authorities, Ethiopian state television said.
Al-Amoudi, who invested heavily in numerous sectors in Ethiopia, was detained in November 2017 along with other Saudi businesspeople after Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman launched an anti-corruption drive.
The Ethiopian state television cited Arega Yirdaw -- the Chief Executive Officer of Medroc group, al-Amoudi's business conglomerate in Ethiopia -- as a source.
A close family member of the businessman also confirmed his release to Anadolu Agency.
