Schools closed in French town after leakage of ammonia in food factory

ANKARA (AA) – Schools closed on Friday in the town of Maisons-Alfort near Paris after leakage was detected in ammonia tanks in a factory.
The prefecture of Val-de-Marne in a statement announced that after the leakage in the Biospringer factory on Thursday, schools and nurseries nearby would be closed.
Firefighters continue working at the scene, the prefecture added.
The leakage occurred during the soldering work on the tanks, and two workers were injured, the statement read.
The prefecture warned the residents of the area against possible odors and urged them to call the authorities in case of skin irritation or respiratory difficulties.
Prefect Sophie Thibault also requisitioned a pumping association to collect the leaked product, the statement added.
Biospringer is a factory specializing in the production of yeast-based food products.
