'Serbia, Austria, and Hungary all concerned over possible migrant pressure'

Numbers may be even higher than crisis in 2015, says Serbian Interior Minister Aleksandar Vulin

BELGRADE, Serbia (AA) - Serbia, Austria, and Hungary are very worried about the pressure of migrants at their borders, said Serbia’s interior minister on Thursday.

The numbers may be even higher than at the beginning of the migrant crisis in 2015, while it may seem calmer due to a better level of preparation by everyone, Aleksandar Vulin told a press conference in the capital Belgrade.

"The leaders of the three countries recognize the problems that we are facing and see concrete tasks that should be implemented," said Vulin.

Vulin said that Serbia will get a lot of help from Austria and Hungary to protect its border with North Macedonia from an influx of illegal migrants.

According to Vulin, the countries will deploy more units to their borders and increase the capacity of technical equipment.

The leaders of the countries met in Hungary's capital Budapest on Monday, where Hungary, Austria, and Serbia agreed to expand cooperation in fighting irregular migration.
