ISTANBUL (AA) - More than one-third of passenger cars sold in Europe in 2021 were either hybrid or electrically chargeable vehicles, industry data showed on Wednesday.

The share of hybrid electric vehicles was 19.6%, up from 11.9% in 2020, European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA) said.

The share of electrically chargeable vehicles was 18% last year, up from 10.5% when compared to 2020, it added.

Although conventional fuel types dominated the EU car market, their share decreased in 2021, accounting for 59.6% of all new registrations.
