KAMPALA, Uganda (AA) – Sixteen taxi commuters, including several women were killed when their vehicle hit a trailer on the Jinja-Kampala Highway in eastern Uganda Wednesday, according to police.
Police officer Sameul Madira said: "We have cut through the wreckage of the taxi...majority are women and children.”
According to Madira, the reason for the accident was suspected to be poor road visibility. "It was raining heavily and the taxi driver did not have a clear sight of the road to see the trailer," he said.
