VAN, Turkey (AA) - At least 17 foreign nationals who illegally entered Turkey were held in the country’s east, according to a security source on Friday.

Gendarmerie forces in the Van province detected the Afghan nationals staying at an abandoned building in the Baskale district, said a security source who asked not to be named due to restrictions on speaking to the media.

The Afghans included a woman, the source added.

They were referred to the provincial migration office following their health control at a state hospital.
