ISTANBUL (AA) - The Netherlands expelled 180 supporters of the Italian football club Napoli from Eindhoven on Tuesday ahead of a Champions League match against PSV Eindhoven, according to the ANSA news agency.
Napoli fans were expelled from the city after police made arrests last night based on an indication that a confrontation was planned with PSV, according to the ANSA news agency.
Their tickets have also been reportedly canceled.
Elsewhere in the city, four PSV supporters were arrested for behavior that reportedly caused disturbances.
Sources said no actual disturbances or fights took place, stressing that arrests were a preventive measure.
"I am following the case of Napoli fans stopped in Eindhoven for checks ahead of tonight’s football match. The Embassy in The Hague has already sent staff, and Italian Digos officers are already on site. Dutch police will turn away fans without tickets," Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani wrote on US social media company X.
