MOSCOW (AA) - Two people were killed and three injured in a Ukrainian drone attack on Russia’s Krasnodar region, said its Governor Veniamin Kondratyev on Wednesday.
Ukrainian drones attacked the central part of the port city of Novorossiysk, where the Russian Black Sea Fleet is stationed, the official said on Telegram.
"Today, in the middle of the day, Novorossiysk suffered a horrific attack from Kyiv regime drones. The unmanned aerial vehicles struck the city's central area, specifically around the Hotel Novorossiysk. Unfortunately, we have casualties," he said.
All emergency services were placed on high alert, he said, adding that the attack targeted the city’s central district.
"Preliminary reports indicate two deaths and three people injured. Five residential homes, including apartment blocks, and the hotel building sustained damages. Efforts to counteract the attack are ongoing," he said.
Kondratyev confirmed damage to five residential buildings, including apartment complexes, along with the hotel.
"I urge residents of Novorossiysk to remain calm, follow safety measures, and stay indoors if possible. My sincere condolences go out to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives. I instructed Mayor Andrey Kravchenko to provide full support to the victims," he said.
