2 PKK terrorists killed in eastern Turkey

Provincial authority says police launched operation after learning PKK members were in hiding in a village

ERZURUM, Turkey (AA) – Turkish security forces killed two PKK terrorists on Sunday in the country’s eastern Erzurum province, the local officials said.

According to a statement issued by the Erzurum governor's office, an operation in a rural area of the province was launched after police learned that PKK members were hiding in the village of Cevirme.

Extensive security operations in the region are ongoing.

The PKK – listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and EU – resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in July 2015.

Since then, more than 600 security personnel have been martyred and more than 7,000 PKK terrorists have been killed.
