2 Saudi pilots killed in Yemen crash

The coalition cited "bad weather" for the crash

CAIRO (AA) – Two Saudi pilots were killed on Monday when their Apache helicopter crashed in war-torn Yemen, the Saudi-led coalition has said.

The coalition said in a statement that the aircraft went down during an operation in the city of Marib in eastern Yemen, citing “bad weather” for the crash.

Saudi Arabia is leading an Arab air campaign against Yemen’s Shia Houthi group, which overran the capital Sanaa and other provinces in 2014.

In April, the Yemeni government and the Houthis entered into UN-sponsored peace talks in Kuwait aimed at resolving the conflict, in which more than 6,400 people have been killed and another 2.5 million forced to flee their homes.
