ALEPPO, Syria (AA) - Two Syrian soldiers were killed Thursday in an attack by the SDF terrorist group in the Deir Hafer area of Syria’s northern Aleppo countryside, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).

The Syrian Defense Ministry’s Media and Communications Department said in a statement that the SDF has recently targeted with shells and rockets several villages and towns in the eastern Aleppo countryside, resulting in casualties among both military personnel and civilians.

The SDF is dominated by the YPG terrorist group, the Syrian branch of the terrorist PKK.

On March 10, the Syrian presidency announced an agreement to integrate the SDF into state institutions, stressing the country’s territorial integrity and rejecting any separatist designs.

Bashar al-Assad, who ruled Syria for nearly 25 years, fled to Russia in late 2024, ending the Baath Party’s decades-long grip on power that began in 1963.

A new transitional administration led by President Ahmed al-Sharaa was formed in Syria in January.
