EDIRNE, Turkey (AA) - At least three people were killed after a boat carrying illegal migrants capsized in River Meric in Turkey’s northwestern Edirne province on Tuesday.
According to the information gathered by Anadolu Agency correspondents, the boat capsized when the illegal migrants were attempting to reach Greece via River Meric.
The deceased included two children and a woman.
According to local witnesses, the boat was carrying around 10 people and a search operation is in progress to rescue the missing people.
Meanwhile, three Pakistani men were remanded in custody for their alleged links to organize illegal migrations.
