KIEV, Ukraine (AA) - Three Ukrainian soldiers were killed and 16 others injured in gunbattles between government forces and separatists in eastern Ukraine within the last 24 hours, according to a Ukrainian spokesman.
Ukrainian Anti-Terrorist Operation spokesman Andrey Lysenko told reporters on Sunday the casualties took place in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
Ukraine has been wracked by conflict since April 2014 following Russia’s annexation of Crimean peninsula from Ukraine. Fighting between Ukrainian government forces and pro-Russia separatists has seen around 9,300 killed, according to the UN.
