SANLIURFA, Turkey (AA) - Three members of the terrorist group YPG/PKK were arrested on Wednesday in Turkey's southeastern Sanliurfa province, according a statement by the provincial security directorate.
The statement said Turkish intelligence and security forces launched an operation to avert the terror group's actions and uncover terrorists in southern Turkey.
The three terrorists, estimated to have been in the terror group for some time, were arrested near the Turkish-Syrian border.
The operation also seized HK416 and M16 rifles, dozens of rounds of ammunition, and organizational documents.
In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU -- has been responsible for the deaths of nearly 40,000 people, including women and children. The PYD/YPG is its Syrian branch.
