320kg of hashish seized in SE Turkey

363,000 packages of smuggled cigarettes also recovered in anti-smuggling drive

ANKARA (AA) - Turkish security forces Tuesday seized 320 kilograms (706 pounds) of hashish in southeastern Mardin province, directorate of security said.

According to a statement, Mardin Provincial Directorate of Security said the hashish was recovered in an operation conducted by anti-narcotics unit on Kiziltepe-Derik highway.

One suspect was also arrested in the operation, it said.

Meanwhile, Turkish security forces also recovered over 363,000 packages of smuggled cigarettes in six different provinces on the same day.

Bingol's Provincial Gendarmerie Command conducted anti-smuggling operations in 63 different locations in southeastern and eastern provinces, according to a statement issued by Bingol's Governor Office.
