4.9-magnitude earthquake rocks Colombia

At least 2 people killed in western Narino state, according to Spanish news agency

ANKARA (AA) - An earthquake jolted western Colombia on Tuesday, killing at least two people, officials and local media reported.

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) said the epicenter of the 4.9-magnitude earthquake was located 16 kilometers (9.94 miles) southeast of Tangua, a town in western Narino state. It had a depth of 10 km (6.21 miles).

Spanish news agency EFE reported that the earthquake killed two people in Narino.

State Governor Camilo Romero said on his Twitter account that emergency measures had been adopted following the earthquake.

In Narino's Pasto town schools were closed and many houses and roads were damaged.
