ANKARA (AA) – Four civilians were killed and two others injured Saturday from machine gun fire placed on an armored police vehicle in the southeastern Turkish province of Hakkari, the provincial governorship said.
The incident occurred while the vehicle was patrolling in a street in the Yuksekova district.
Police in charge of handling the machine gun has been arrested while the investigation is underway, according to a statement issued by the governorship.
“A chief civil inspector has been commissioned to start an investigation to shed light on details of the incident,” Turkish Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu told Anadolu Agency.
